Leading on from our previous Post Processing events – these sessions are designed to act as both a “Stand Alone” or “Continued Learning”building on what you have already learnt previously. Welshot events are great for getting those fantastic images – but what do you do with them once you get them off your camera. To help answer that question we are running a post processing day introducing you to the basics of processing and explaining the options you have which will enhance your images.
A firm favourite with Welshot members has always been shooting with coloured gels. Tonight at the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening in Chester, based at the Crowne Plaza we will be using Off Camera Flash and working in a variety of indoor locations. You will learn about how to use OCF and gels in a creative way to light your Model up with coloured gels attached to the light source and how this will help to create truly stunning images. Using a colour wheel, you will also learn about which colours complement each other and how to avoid colour clashing.
Welshot is TEN and we are CELEBRATING!
Ten years ago the Welshot Photographic Academy was launched in Menai Bridge, Anglesey and since then we’ve gone on to launch Academy Evenings and Events in Chester, Manchester, Ellesmere Port and Liverpool. We’ve been everywhere from Hong Kong to Halifax, from Iceland to London, from Budapest to Cambridge – we’ve covered every photographic genre under the sun, from Mains Studio Flash to all night shoots on Anglesey and Paris, from Macro and Close-Up to capturing water drops – not to mention Landscape, Seascape and Nightscape sessions we’ve had. All these events have one thing in common – fun has been had, friendships have been made, photos have been created and techniques have been learnt – and all included CHIPS too!
Tonight, at the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening in Chester it’s all about shooting and making an HDR photograph. High Dynamic Range can be a useful skill and technique to learn and can be used in a variety of situations. If it is done correctly no one will event be able to tell your images/exposures have even been merged. Tonight, you will be learning how to shoot HDR in Low-Light using the historic location of Chester and if you would like, practising your long exposures too, before heading back were we will show you how to shoot and how to post process those images
At the Welshot Photographic Academy Evening for March it’s all about some mid-winter fun tonight for you and your camera based at the Holiday Inn – Ellesmere Port. Tonight you will be both inside and out, taking part in something a little bit different and getting creative with your photography. Tonight, it is all about Off Camera Flash, Creating Bokeh and Working with Models using the lights of Chester to help create that special background effect to give your images that WOW factor. At this Welshot Chester Photographic Academy Evening based at the Chester Crowne Plaza we will be out and about taking photos of our wonderful Welshot Models using the Off Camera Flash technique – aiming to create the bokeh effect using the available light of Chester
What is Bokeh? Bokeh comes from the Japanese word boke, which means “blur” or “haze”, or boke-aji, the “blur quality.” Bokeh is pronounced BOH-Kə or BOH-kay. Bokeh is “the effect of a soft out-of-focus background that you get when shooting a subject, using a fast lens, at the widest aperture, such as f/2.8 or wider.” Simply put, bokeh is the pleasing or aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur in a photograph.
Welshot events give you an opportunity to create fantastic images and upload them to your computer – but what do you do with them then. Someone once said that the digital age has created the most photographed generation who will leave the least memories for their descendants.
This event is designed to help you understand how to turn your photographs into beautiful coffee table books that your family will treasure. In the morning, you will join Eifion on a tour of historic Chester taking images that you will use in the afternoon to create a test book.
