Welshot Does… The “Longest Day” – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales circumnavigating the Island of Anglesey.  Meeting at Penmon Lighthouse, in time to watch and capture the sunrise over the Llandudno Great Orme in your camera will be the start to our Welshot Does… The Longest Day photographic adventure for 2024.  We will then proceed to visit numerous photographic locations, from South Stack Lighthouse to the historic Telford’s Bridge, from Church Island to Parys Mountain in Amwlch, from LLanddwyn Island to Menai Bridge and Beaumaris – This day will have it all for the outdoor photographer – so why not grab your camera and join us on this 19 hour photography adventure. 

Photography at Penmon Lighthouse on Anglesey – Roving Photographic Academy Evening. It’s all about seascapes, low-light, long exposures and night sky photography.  Charge your batteries, pack your kit bag (with a memory card or three) and grab your camera and head to Anglesey, North Wales.  Specifically Penmon Point Lighthouse.  From a how to shoot the night sky masterclass to getting creative long exposures, this Welshot adventure will have you making images to be proud of. While we can’t guarantee a sunset, or that the stars will align and come out to play, we will help you to shoot in those-low-light conditions which will make for some dramatic images.

Creative Seascape Photography with Helen Iles – Penmon Lighthouse – Mini Module with Masterclass

At this Welshot Mini Module with Masterclass it is all about getting creative with our cameras.  During this creative seascape photography with Helen Iles and Team Welshot you will be shown how looking through the lens in a different way will have have you making a wide range of wonderful photos.  From using a lens balls, to learning about macro and close-up photography, the only limit at this photographic workshop will be your imagination. The masterclass session will have you making long exposures – capturing the landscape and seascapes around you.  From the ‘Golden and Blue’ hours this Welshot photographic event at Penmon, on the Isle of Anglesey will keep you and your camera busy, taking stunning images from before sunset to after the sun has gone down. 

Ever wanted to learn how to make long exposures to capture the sea as it laps the shore and lighthouse as well as clouds and dramatic landscape in low light conditions? 

Then this is the event for you. However you choose to use your camera during this event, there will be plenty to photograph and keep you busy on this Welshot Mini Module.

Sunrise to Sunset – Lighthouses, Piers & Bridges – A WelshotRewards Day event for Welshot Academy Members.  Starting at Penmon, we will capture the sun as it rises above the Great Orme which overlooks Llandudno, North Wales.  You will learn how to take long exposure, experimenting with using various shutter speed to slow the movement of water, which will give the sea that ‘Milky – Blurry’ look.  This photographic event is guaranteed to provide the photographer with a wide range of subjects and genres.  From seascape to landscape photography, from architectural to nature and wildlife – this is a day for those who like to amble around with their camera. 

Were taking advantage of the ‘still early’ darker evenings and getting out and about with our cameras to capture the Anglesey coastline in extreme low-light conditions.  At this Welshot Roving Academy Evening, based in Beaumaris, we will be shooting long exposures – from Gallows Point to the Pier itself.  Shooting in low light can be challenging – Tonight you will be learning how to each element of the exposure triangle (ISO / Shutter / Aperture) to create your image.  Understanding the exposure triangle is an important part of knowing how to use your camera, especially when shooting in low light.  Learning how to use your shutter speeds and exposure times with the ambient (natural light) will help to create a variety of looks in your photographs. At this low-light and long exposure seascape photography workshop you will be capturing and creating unique and inspiring images to be proud of.

Action Photography – Power Bikes at Ty Croes Racetrack – WelshotRewards Day

At this Action Photography – Power Bikes at Ty Croes Racetrack – WelshotRewards Day event you will learn how to use your camera to capture some great images and take in the atmosphere of the Anglesey Circuit.  With Power Bikes as your subject, you will learn all the techniques needed to capture the movement and speed of the bikes whilst they race around one of the most picturesque circuits in the country. During the day there will be plenty of opportunity for 1:1 tuition, learning how to master the art of panning and which shutter speeds to use to get the image you want to create.  During the day you will visit the pit area, helping you to get up close to the motorcycles being prepared for racing. As a photographer, this gives you an opportunity to build up a story of the day in photos.  

Creative Christmas Photography - Anglesley Photographic Academy Evening

Creative Christmas Photography at the Llandudno Photographic Academy Evening is all about having some fun with your camera while you create some wonderful seasonal photographs.  At the November Welshot Academy Evening at the Welshot Creative Hub you will be learning how to make your own Christmas filters, then using fairy lights, and Christmas trees, you will learn how to capture that lovely Bokeh in your camera which makes for some stunning and festive images.  We will also be working with coloured lights, torches and gels to do some inside light-painting.  From flat-lay to still-life photography, from food to Christmas products this will be an opportunity for those who want to make festive and seasonal images for a specific purpose – art work, Christmas cards, stock photography or just for the pure fun of learning something new and a chance to take some photos.  Hot chocolate, Christmas mince pies, Christmas crackers and a glass (or two) of mulled wine will complete this last Llandudno Academy Evening for 2022.

Oil Water and Cross Polarisation - Creative Photography

Creative Photography is about discovering shapes, textures, colour and movement and how all these, combined together, can help you to create the most amazing photographs.  At the September Welshot Academy Evening, based at The Bulkeley Hotel, Beaumaris on Anglesey this Evening photographic workshop is all about  Oil, Water & Cross-Polarisation and how using a wide variety of everyday objects, from bottles, to coloured cloth, along with the correct settings and functions on your camera, can achieve effective images with that “WOW – how did you do that?” factor.  From fast shutter speeds to capture water droplets to long exposures so you get that milky effect with flowing water.  Tonight you will see how oil and water does mix when it comes to photography and a laptop just isn’t used for post processing and editing your images.  You will leave this event inspired and motivated to try this at home and with the skills, techniques and ideas you will have take away with you, you will be able to do just that.  

Shortest Night 2023 - A Photographic Adventure in North Wales - Llyn Pardarn in Llanberis, Snowdonia, North Wales with Dolbardarn Castle in distance.

Welshot Does… The Shortest Night 2023 – A Photographic Adventure in North Wales.  On this, our annual all night adventure we will be visiting the beautiful landscape of Anglesey and Snowdonia in North Wales, which is always a firm Welshot favourite and always has our delegates booking on the next years ‘Shortest Night’ adventure before breakfast (included) have been eaten at the end of the event. The not so short, night of photography, which is always held as close to the 21st June as possible starts by the side of Llyn Padarn (Llanberis Lake) deep in the heart of Snowdonia before moving on for a marathon photographic session visiting numerous locations. Sixteen hours (Yes, we can see the irony!) of photographic fun, friendship and getting creative with your camera will have you shooting everything from star trails to long exposures, from architecture to land and seascapes. Hunting for the magic blue bioluminescence will also be on the agenda.
