At tonight's Photographic Academy Evening in Chester we introduce Zoe Richards who will show you, in a short presentation  how the Masters of Art used light, shade, form, composition,people backgrounds and props in both paintings and sculpture and how YOU can use the same techniques and skills in your photography to make your images stand out.

This will then be put into practise with some posing techniques you can use to make a great image when working with people.

Zoe Richards is a regular at The Walker Art Gallery, both as an observer of the art to help her continually push the boundaries with her own work, and also as a Gallery Speaker.

Zoe, who has run workshops for The Walker Art Gallery for over 2 years on subjects as diverse as Street Photography to Cecil Beaton to learning from the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood for photography.

It will be a full evening of theory and practical but it is not about making images.  

You will learn:

  *  How to look and Light and Shade by viewing how the Master of Art used them.

  *  How to capture and recreate those same poses

  *  How to pose your subject/s for lifestyle purposes

  *  How to think about your composition using backgrounds, props and poses

  *  How learning about the Human Form can enhance your images

Numbers will be strictly restricted on this evening and will be on a first come first served basis.  

 

There will be plenty of time for questions and practise with guidance and help on hand.

This Academy Evening WILL be restricted in numbers. So we would advise early booking.

Please note:  Due to unforeseen circumstances we may need to change the modules (or part of) that have been advertised.  We will always provide an alternative that would still benefit you from learning how to get the best from your camera.  We will also always endeavour to give andvance warning of any changes.

Event schedule

6.30pm - Registration - Purchase yourself a drink from the bar - Mix and Mingle

7.00pm - Session One.  Presentation using slides and sample of famous art work that can help inspire your photography.

8.15pm - Full Buffet Supper

8.45pm - Session Two which will involve Zoe giving you the basic principles of posing and creating a composition for your future images

10.00pm - Close

Notebook and Pen

An Open Mind and a willingness to learn and have fun.

You can choose to bring a camera to take images of the poses and techniques shown but there is no formal studio set-up or professional models on this evening
