Default What is now termed geeky but used to be common knowledge

I was wondering if we could have some workshops, to underpin our understanding of what used to be fundamental. Like, circle of confusion, depth of field calks, what we are doing with tilt shift. I'm sure that Welshotiimaging have the knowledge, althought some of what would be considered fundamentals of optics for photographers seems obsolete to many these days. I would like some of the holes in my understanding plugged.

If this is a no can do due to lack of interest, could someone recommend a good book?

    Cheers, Andy

Yep, I think there is some talk going on already about doing some 'back to basics' workshops as there a lot of people who seem to miss this bit out of their learning. When I went to college we were expected to learn all the basic elements of photography and developing. It's very easy to by-pass this these days.

Does the Lens Baby do tilt and shift? Sorry I didn't read Mark's review. As you've probably seen by now Canon for example do Tilt and Shift lenses at around £1,300. So far I hear they are very good for interior shots, but I think I'd rather have a full order book before investing in one, especially with not knowing much about how it works.
