On Sunday 24th October Welshot Imaging will be launching the brand new Academy Evening at the Britannia Hotel, Offerton, Stockport.

This will be run in the usual format of a Welshot Open Day which will cover anything from "How to Modules", "Adobe Photoshop Turotials" and those all important "Business Questions" that photographers need to know.

The Open Day will run from 9.00am through to 6.00pm, includes arrival Coffee & Tea, Lunch, Fantastic Photographic Modules to take part in, Photographic and Business Lectures with much more. Details will be posted here as they are finalised but you can be rest assured it will be a jam packed, photography filled day where you will learn amoungst professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Here's what Jo Quinney, from QMPR in Menai Bridge, thought of the Open Day in Menai Bridge April 2009:

"I went to the Open Day because I thought it would be a great way to spend time thinking about my photography. Always being so busy it gave me space to think about something else and meet the experts. In the morning we had lectures together and in the afternoon we attended modules in small groups, which were like quick taster sessions. I realised I can learn a lot from others, experts, amateurs and Welshot Academy members, and that I can share my experience.

The best thing about it was that I was able to focus on my photography for the day. Now that I've been on the Open Day I am very keen to book some full day sessions with the experts that we met briefly for about 20 minutes or so. It was like 'test driving' your tutor before you book a day with them. You then get a great idea what they are like and how they can help you."

Metering in your camera is all about measuring the light available to make an image.
Meeting at the Y Felinheli Marina tonight you will be learning YOUR cameras meting modes and how to use them in various situations. You will be given instructions on how metering works and then over practical mini exercises you will put this into practise.


You'll be taught how to:

• Use spot metering.
• Centre weighted metering.
• Matrix metering (Nikon).
• Evaluative metering (Canon).
• Shown how to use a light hand held meter
• Why metering is important

We will start in the Welshot Studio at the Marina with handouts given to you then you will by taking part in practical exercises learn how to use the metering system of YOUR camera.
Please bring your manuals and flash gun and tripod if you have one.
Light refreshment is included.
