To All Academy Members. :)

I have today sent you all an email asking if there is any interest in a MINI Workshop on

"Painting with Light"

It is open to Academy Members Only and the price is £15.00

We will be meeting at the Anglesey Arms Hotel in Menai Bridge at 6.30pm on Wednesday 7th October and the price will include a bit of a buffett before we go out :)

The more people we have for this the more fun we can have but there will be time for Eifion to give some tuition to individuals during the evening.

When we know how much interest this is generating we will tell you more about what you need to bring.

You can count on this one being lots of fun guys :yahoo:

Sounds great, but I am working and don't finish the shift until 8.15 :(

Could suggest loads of great, but unsuitable, locations for light painting :)

If you feel up to it Marian I am sure we will still be out and about painting the town of Menai Bridge.

Hey, wouldnt that be cool and image with the whole high street done.

I wonder..... could this be done ?? ;)

It will be the second of two 12hr shifts back to back, and if still as manic as this week I will be totally wasted ;) but will see how things go, and wave as I pass by :D

I could imagine that little light people in the graveyard on Church Island might offer some fun possibilities. or under the arches of the Menai Bridge. Traffic might be a pain there tho .....

Count me in but I do think you'll need to find somewhere dark to make it work. I would think the existing lights on the bridge and around town would overpower any attempt at painting.

Eif is sending details of all the techie bits tomorrow...

You guys know me, I come up with the ideas and it's Eifions and the other pro's to figure out how to do it lol :)

YES it does have to be dark. We are onto it and we were planning on doing a reccie tomorrow evening but have to go on an errand of mercey for Mr. Andrew Wells, 300+ people to photograph tomorrow night and his assistants have let him down.

I'm gonna get him to train you all at "Events" so he can use you lot instead lol :yahoo: This is the only night I've had in before midnight

Llanberis bomb store was a great location for doing light painting and we used coloured flashes to light the tunnels beyond the person too. Another place we have been in and done light painting was an abandoned local factory workshop, total darkness. But not sure that either of those fit in with health and safety and stuff tho ......... http://www.flickr.com/photos/_belial/2670900529/

To all who are coming on the Painting with Light Mini Workshop.

Please could all of you who have tripods bring them as you will need them for this session, if you dont have oneI will have 2 for you to borrow for the night.Bring along any cable releases or trigger devices you have for firing the shutter, you will need to keep the shutter open for quite a long time . All will be explained on the night.
As for what lenses to bring, you wont need anything long ,so a short zoom or fixed lens will be suitable.
Please bring a torch with you as this will help when setting up and in the session, if you have a flash gun you might like to bring that to experiment .
If you have any quieries please contact either Lee or Eifion.
So charge up your batteries and empty your memory cards and come along , it will be fun.

See you there. :yahoo:

I'll bring my cheap flash triggers, may see if I can find something to put over the flashes to act as gels for spooky backlights.

It was a great night last night, I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I was tempted to put my feet up with a glass of something after an 8 mile walk in the mountains - so glad I didn't succumb! Many thanks to Lee and Eifion - not that I have dared open my camera bag yet to see what I've got.

Thanks for last night guys. It was fantastic:yahoo:

I had such a laugh with you all even though I felt a right idiot standing on the bench making funny patterns with the torch.

I have posted below an image that Sian took of me making Eifion look really silly

Was a good night wasn't it. Love that shot from Sian. Mine are still all safely tucked in the bag as well but I'll be retrieving them soon.

 Hi folks, I really enjoyed the night too. A great crew to spend a dark night in a graveyard with. Very happy with some of my images. A couple of quite dramatic ones.

I also had a lovely time too, only just opened my camera bag and uploaded my photos onto my computer as I've been in bed with the flu since Thursday night!! :(
Had such a laugh as always and looking forward to having a go when I'm back on my feet.

I, of course also enjoyed this great night even though I was having a bit of a problem with my camera at first, but sorted it out in the end, thanks Eifion! I think I need a new cable release though!

I'm afraid I'm more impatient than the rest of you as I took my card out of the camera on the same night to download them, though didn't actually take the camera out of the bag, and was pleased with the results! Thanks again Lee and Eifion for another great evening!
