Printer problems

Dear Joan,

I'm having problems with my HP Photosmart 2575 printer when I print anything with a border because although I try to set it up to be central on the page for an A4, it always goes to one side when it's printed so I have to trim the edge. I've tried to look for a menu to alter the margins but cannot find one. Any ideas as to how I could correct this?

Also, I have an old 5x4 transparency that I would like to digitialise so that I can put it on my pc. Is it possible to do this through Photo Imaging and how much would it cost?

I don't really know much about the HP Photosmart 2575, what size is your image?
are you printing, say.... an 8x6 image onto an A4 sheet ? here's something that you could try ( if you are not already doing so ) make a new A4 canvas in Photoshop or whatever you use and drop your image dead centre onto that new canvas, flatten and print, ( the printer will think it's printing an A4 ) does that still give you an offset print? let me know.

Yes, we can scan any negs or transparencies up to 10x8, the cost for a 5x4 transparency scan is £2.50 for a straight scan and £5.00 for an adjusted/selective scan plus p&p if you are not in our area.

After a bit of a mooch on the Internet it seems that the HP Photosmart 2575 is renowned for this problem, more so if you are using Vista, does sending the file to print as an A4 help at all?

Dear Joan,

Thanks for your help, advice and for searching the internet about my problem. I usually get the fall off when printing on A4 paper with a border. I am using vista so that must be why I'm having problems, but I'll try your suggestion and will let you know how I get on.

I'm happy to hear that you can scan my 5x4 transparency too, so I'll pop in the next time I'm in Bangor with it, thanks again.
