Cannon Lens Converters

Has anyone any experience with the Cannon Converters, e.g. 2x and the 1.4x.

I know that with one you will lose one stop of light ,and 2 stops with the other, its the quality that i am more concerned with.

I've got the 1.4. You do indeed lose one stop and autofocus above 5.6. To my eyes the quality is good. Looking at two raw files side by side I can not see a drop in image quality when strapped to the long end of my 100-400. Looking at reviews the 2x isn't so highly regarded.

If you want to test drive the 1.4 I'm happy to lend it to you for a few days.

The 1.4 converter is a cracker (canon). You lose some quality of image using the 2x... I have both and always use the 1.4, but only use the 2x for the odd shot...
