Hello Everyone.

Well, Monday 4th April 2011 is our 2nd Birthday :yahoo: (we always count the very first Academy Open Day that was held in Anglesey on 4th April 2009 as our Birthday) when the Photographic Academy was born :) and the people attending that day had so much fun that they became our founding Photographic Academy Members

Eifion and I can honestly say that we have enjoyed EVERY minute of it, you have all brought us so much fun and enjoyment that it is a pleasure to plan and develop new things to bring to you and to your Membership Benefits and Packages.

You have joined in on Academy Evenings, Our Workshops, Mini Modules, Events, Open Days, then joined the Forum and now the new Galleries. So Thank YOU

What we are doing at the moment is only the tip of the iceberg and over the next 12 months you will have loads more of off-line and on-line photographic stuff to do and be involved in.

We do hope you will contunue to travel along the Photographic journey with us - your support is very much appreciated.

So for April we have come up with another Month of Challenges. And the prize is a real party goodie bag of treats, just to celebrate our Birthday... :yahoo:

Again, we are going to give you four weeks of making you think....

April Challenge
Win 50% off a FULL Workshop
50% off an Academy Evening Session
FREE A2 Print from Photo Imaging
FREE Pack of Permajet Test Pack of Paper
Photography Book (Genre of your choice)
You get to choose the challenge for May :)

Week One: 4th April - 10th April 2011

COLOUR:

IDEAS for Colour:

:) Choose many colours, matching or otherwise. Choose only primary clours....

:) This is a fun challenge for the urban / rural environment. Take your camera out and give yourself a few hours tgo take pictures. Choose a colour (or for an added challenge get a friend to choose a colour for you) and shoot only objects of that colour. But the end of the session, you will be suprised how that colour jumps out at you.

:) When You are finished, it is a great idea to take your best images and assemble them into a collage or mosaic.

The choice is YOURS how you portray this topic, the only requirment is it must shout COLOUR....

Have fun :)

Week Two's Challenge will be announced on Sunday 10th of April

How to upload Images. This is now the prefered way.

Upload a photo to the Welshot forum

1) Create a new post or reply in advanced mode - (this wont work in quick reply).

2) Click on the paper clip icon on the top row of the text box editor tools.

You'll see photos you've uploaded in the past. Double click on one of these photos to insert again, or to upload a new photo......

3) Click 'Add Files' top right corner

4) Click Select Files

5) Browse to your image and click open. I recommend uploading an image 640x480, but its up to you.

6) Once you've finished adding photos for upload, click "Upload Files"

7) Drag and drop the image you want placed in the post from the top box to the bottom box.

8) Click Insert Attachment or Insert Inline.

Insert Attachment displays a small thumbnail that users can click to make large.
Insert Inline displays the full sized (uploaded) image in the post.

A blatant attempt at currying favouritism :D

Had 10 mins free this evening and couldn't get out on the hunt for something colourful, so made do with what I had available, who would have thought sponge letters could be so useful!
More to follow over weekend (weather permitting!)

Hey Jnr, (Tony) your set is brilliant and well done. Hello to bonnie Scotland I might add :)

James.... Yes very blatant but I do love it. It is brilliant and I may just have to do a deal with you lol ;)

Maybe I should make it a condition that I do some "Rights Grabbing" lol ;)

Seriously, these are all looking well colourful and thank you so much for taking part.

Lee :)

Thought I would follow on my previous theme, as the nice weather, beers and a BBQ put paid to any ideas of getting out and about so far this weekend :D

And the best thing about this photo, is I get to eat all the cake afterwards :ill:

There were a couple more that may upload later, however I hadnt bargained on the candles being so close together, and joining forces to create what can only be described as a waxy inferno!

Minimal processing done to this one, just a quick crop and some brightness adjustments, took longer to set it up than I spent on all the 'after-shot' gubbins, not to mention dousing my fingers in iced water from molten wax and rather hot lighters!

Last one on this theme, promise! The sponge letters have been banished to the back of the cupboard.

This one was literally 20 seconds after lighting the candles and burning my fingers, Tesco failed to mention they were soaked in paraffin or something equally as combustible when I bought them!

Incinerating my fingers and almost burning the house down paid off! (OK, they were only candles but I like being melodramatic :P )

May need to stay away from BBQ's and beer's to get something for this weeks entry I think

Well had a few hours free this evening so made a start on this week's challenge, few more to follow later but these ones ready now.

Loosely follows on from my entries from first week, digging out these spaghetti shapes was a nightmare though, took me good 30 minutes to find the second 'H'

This textures of both the grassy slope and the grainy cloudscape made this image for me.

Woohoo! Thanks guys! Enjoyed that challenge, gave something to focus on each week rather than my usual approach of just taking completely random shots all the time :-)

I'll post up May's challenge later on today when I've racked my brain to think of one!

Thanks again
