elements help

can anyone help, please? when i go to open elements (i use this as my cataloque and open my pictures from here in to photoshop) i get a message: failed to open catalogue. the default catalogue could not be found. please open or create a new catalogue.
where has it gone? it was ok yesterday.
any help would be gratefully appreciated
