will do this in the week, had not heard of any competition as I do not go on the forum.
Is welshot now a forum academy?

Paul Smith
21/02/2010, 20:46
It was announced at the last Academy night and we've put it in the newsletter to remind people now. If anyone needs any help in getting an image on here they're welcome to ask and we'll sort it for them.

OK so how do I upload a photo?

Rog

Paul Smith
22/02/2010, 10:40
You basically have to upload the image to one of the free online services such as flickr, imageshack or photobucket and then link to it from here. I'll do some guides and update this post shortly with further guidance.

edit

Guide for uploading images can be found here (http://welshotimaging.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=194).

Quick guide

Resize image to 500pixels on it's longest length and save on your computer.

Go to www.imageshack.us

Select the picture from your computer and hit the upload button.

Once uploaded you're presented with a set of codes

Copy the forum code or html code and paste it into a post on here and it will display your image.

RogBrown
22/02/2010, 22:24
But where on here do you post? Is there a specific Forum thread for comp entries?
Also, where can I see other entries?

Paul Smith
23/02/2010, 09:12
Sorry Rog, post your entries in this thread. No one's entered yet so we've obviously made it too confusing.

We'll use this thread for all entries and then lock it at noon on Sunday. Please don't wait until Sunday to post as you don't want to run out of time if something goes wrong and you need any help in posting an image.

23/02/2010, 09:50
And for all those of you who I KNOW are waiting to see what has been uploaded before you enter... I know who you are lol ;) and I will deduct points ;)

Come on guys, get cracking... A FREE one day workshop remember :)

Anthony Smith

ooh, shame its only one entry each, otherwise I might have another one in mind.

Rog, thats lovely mate, really nice.

Anthony

Anthony Smith
23/02/2010, 17:47
what do you think of this one Roger?

Anthony

RogBrown
23/02/2010, 21:10
Beautiful. I'd maybe crop a bit off the f/g to get the horizon off the mid line, but that's being really picky.

Anthony Smith
23/02/2010, 22:35
I know what you mean Rog, but I have never been bothered by where my horizon lands. If the other elements balance it out, then Im happy.

Still appreciate your thoughts though, cheers.

Anthony

No getting carried away now you've worked out how to link. :D

Can we keep this thread to one entry for the comp please. Feel free to post any other images you wish to discuss in the Image Discussion Forum (http://welshotimaging.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=36). You're all welcome to change your submissions before Sunday but please do so by editing your original post, not adding a second.

It's been pointed out that you can't actually edit posts to change picks so you're stuck with your first entry :) Which one are you submitting Anthony and I'll remove the other.

Anthony Smith
26/02/2010, 20:30
hmm, thats a toughie. I'll go with my first answer. I'll keep the Liverpool shot, and not enter the lighthouse shot.

Thanks Paul.

Sorry i have caused you some work.

you're just missing the opening square bracket for some reason, put that in and it will work honest.

you're basically telling the board that you're linking to an image by using the [ IMG ] web address of picture [ / IMG ] tags, without any spaces.

A big thank you to everyone that entered. A special judging pamel was conveined at Welshot Towers this afternoon and we spent a long time going through all the images.

We particularly liked Sian's shot of Albert Dock, Sion's light trails and Anthony's Liverpool shot but in the end we all agreed on Tim Charles's cityscape.

After being away for the weekend I am delighted to have returned to find I have won the night time shot comp!

Thank you for choosing my shot and those who have sent their congratulations.

I look for forward to the Leeds outing in April and more evenings at The Gateway to Wales.
