On Tuesday 19th of January at the Days Hotel Chester North (formally
The Gateway to Wales Hotel) we will be exploring the world of Strobist lighting and looking at the best way to capture floral images.

Jayce Clark of www.jayceclarkephotography.co.uk will be leading the strobist module looking at the use of flashguns on and off camera for great portable accesible lighting.

The second module will be showing us how to capture close up floral images in controlled environments. Learn how to make and use your own backgrounds for small studio set-ups.

There will as always be a full buffet supper between modules and the opportunity to share your ideas and experiences with fellow photogrpahers.

The cost of the evening is £15 for academy members and £20 for non academy menbers.

Please use the following link to book your place http://www.welshotimaging.co.uk/academy/tuesday/

You will need to confirm your registration by Monday 18th January at noon for catering purposes.

See you there

Thank you to everyone that turned out for this. Hopefully we all learned something and enjoyed ourselves. I know I enjoyed Jayce's off camera flash session and Chris's floral tricks and tips.

I said I'd post some links to some of the cheap off camera flash equipment Jayce was using. If anybody wants any further clarification please ask and we'll drag him on here to explain further.

You obviously will need some flashes, these need to have manual power control so that you can adjust the strength of the light.

Light stands can be found on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PAIR-OF-Professional-Studio-Photo-Light-Lighting-Stands_W0QQitemZ150394339875QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ Photography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=item2304338223 ) cheaply or you can go for the named brands from any of the usual suppliers.

For using umbrellas you'll want an umbrella adapter (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Strobist-Tilt-Swivel-Light-Stand-Umbrella-Flash-Adapter_W0QQitemZ160391657690QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _Photography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=item25581678d a) or if you'd prefer you can find brackets (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Speedlight-adapter-beauty-dish-snoot-barndoor-reflector_W0QQitemZ250558299671QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ UK_Photography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=item3a56703 e17) to allow the use of bowens type light modifiers.

To trigger the flashes you can either use the professional grade pocket wizards (http://www.warehouseexpress.com/category/basecategory.aspx?cat03=3115&brand=194&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=Pocket+Wizard&utm_content=Triggers_And_Sync_-_PocketWizard&utm_campaign=Flashguns_-_Triggers_And_Sync&cm_mmc=Google%2bWarehouse%20Lighting%20And%20Studi o-_-Flashguns%20-%20Triggers%20And%20Sync-_-Triggers%20And%20Sync%20-%20PocketWizard-_-Pocket%20Wizard) or get some imports from china for pennies. There are several widely used sets with some of the most popular being the PT-04 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4CH-Wireless-Radio-Slave-Strobe-Flash-Trigger-PT04-AR02_W0QQitemZ300380219058QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca merasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUnits_JN?h ash=item45f00e66b2) and the RF-602 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RF-602-Canon-Flash-Studio-Trigger-Set-2-more-Rxs-UK_W0QQitemZ150404925999QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Phot ography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=item2304d50a2f) sets.

We're not recommending any supplier and remember all imports are subject to tax,vat and handling fees.

If anybody would like to learn more about Chris Noble his website can be found here (http://www.noblemultimedia.co.uk/)

Any questions or feedback from the night can be left here. Thanks again to all that attended.

Glad you enjoyed it Paul! Pitty you didn't forget about your flash gun - Oh well next time.

If anyone does have any questions on all things location/off camera flash I would be more than happy to answer questions.

See you at the Angelsey Arms next month Paul.
