Lightroom 3 - Now Out

Looks like Mr Arnold's going to have to update his course notes :D

Adobe have released a public beta build of Lightroom 3. Anyone feeling brave can freely download and use this programme until april next year. With it being beta there will be bugs and there is no support for it but someone might fancy an extended trial.

Oh my gosh!! Only just getting the hang of Lightroom 2!!

It's pretty similair from what I can tell. Import has improved and is much quicker. Apart from that I've yet to see any major changes. There's a flickr uploader included out of the box but it's not as good as the third party one discussed elsewhere.

Will have more of a play and report back.

Beta 2 is now available from the adobe labs site and it looks like it's progressing nicely. The noise reduction is looking really good and it's very responsive. They've also introduced tethered shooting for certain cameras and the ability to catalogue, but not edit, video. If any one wants to play then it's available from http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom3/

Just remember it's beta software, it won't blow up your computer but there will be bugs and you may lose some information if it all goes wrong. Don't rely on this as your main editing tool.

The final product has now shipped and is a big step up from 2. £75 for the upgrade or £240 for the full product.
